Mississippians to save soon on groceries, school supplies and clothes, and hunting gear

 Shoppers in Mississippi will get some considerable tax breaks in July and August, with one of them going into effect permanently in the Magnolia State on July 1st.

The Mississippi Department of Revenue (MDOR) is slashing the sales tax rate on groceries purchased in the state by two-percent, from seven-percent to five-percent, effective July 1st.

Then, on July 11 through July 13, Mississippi shoppers will get another, temporary sales tax break through the state’s Sales Tax Holiday Weekend, just in time for school clothes and supplies shopping before the 2025-2026 school year arrives.

In August, Mississippi Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday will take place from August 29 -August 31.
