Lauren James was officially admitted to the Mississippi Bar on April 24, 2025, authorizing her to practice law in the state.
The oath of office was administered by Mississippi Supreme Court Associate Justice Jennifer B. Branning, who represents District 1, Place 3. James also serves as Justice Branning’s junior law clerk.
Admission to the Bar follows successful completion of the Mississippi Bar Exam, a rigorous multi-day test that assesses knowledge of both state and federal law. The exam is widely regarded as one of the most challenging steps in becoming a licensed attorney, requiring months of intensive preparation.
James joins the legal profession at a time when newly admitted attorneys play a vital role in addressing the evolving legal needs of communities across Mississippi.
