Starting Monday, August 4th, the City of Canton will transition from its current third-party provider to a City of Canton-operated garbage collection.
There will be no interruption of service during this transition for Canton residents.

- How do I report a missed garbage collection or service problem?
Please call the City of Canton Sanitation/ Public Works Department at (601) 859-8626 or email [email protected] to report a missed collection or service problem.
- What time should I place my garbage out for collection?
Please have your garbage cart out for collection by 7 am on your stated collection day. The City will only pick up garbage that is placed in City of Canton garbage carts.
- What do I do if my city-issued garbage cart is damaged by the City, or through normal wear and tear?
Please call (601) 859-8626 or email [email protected] to discuss a solution for the damaged garbage cart(s).
- Can I request to have a second 95-gallon garbage cart?
Yes. You may request to have a second 95-gallon garbage cart for an additional fee of $75.00. The $75.00 is a one-time payment that must be remitted prior to the receipt of an additional garbage cart.
- May I use my personal container(s) to dispose of garbage on my collection day?
No. Garbage will only be collected in the garbage cart(s) provided by the City of Canton.
- How is yard/limb debris collected?
The City of Canton’s Boom Truck will collect yard waste and limbs that are bundled in 4 feet (long) x 2 feet (high) bundles, which will operate on the same day as your coordinating garbage pickup schedule.
