Dr. Pamela Self, executive director of special programs for the Canton Public School District, is preparing to roll out new initiatives across the three departments she oversees: Federal Programs, Child Nutrition and Exceptional Services.

In a recent meeting with her team, Self led strategic planning discussions focused on strengthening services and better addressing the varied needs of students and stakeholders in the upcoming school year, according to district officials.

The meeting included collaborative brainstorming aimed at improving the delivery and effectiveness of each department’s offerings. Self emphasized the importance of tailoring programs to support both academic outcomes and overall student well-being.

“The goal is to design services that are responsive, inclusive and student-centered,” Self said during the meeting, according to a statement from the district.

The three departments under Self’s direction play key roles in the district: Federal Programs coordinates funding and compliance efforts; Child Nutrition ensures access to healthy meals; and Exceptional Services provides specialized instruction and support for students with disabilities.

Canton Public School District officials said more detailed plans will be released as the school year approaches.
