Special to The Canton News
Canton High School junior Alexandria Luckett has been selected to serve on the 2025–26 State Superintendent Student Advisory Council, joining nearly ninety students from across Mississippi. The group convened at the Mississippi Capitol for its first meeting of the school year.
Representing schools statewide, Council members discussed key topics, including mental health, school safety, cell phone policies, student attendance, teacher shortages and artificial intelligence.
The Council provides a platform for students to share their perspectives directly with State Superintendent of Education Dr. Lance Evans, strengthening communication between the Mississippi Department of Education and public school students.
During the meeting, Rep. Kevin Felsher and Sen. Mike McLendon met with the students to answer questions about education and leadership.
Canton Public School District officials said they are proud of Luckett for representing Canton High School and demonstrating strong student leadership.
