Second graders lead reading program for kindergarten class

Second grade students at Canton Elementary are trying new things and building mentorship connections by reading to a kindergarten class each week.
 

This new program provides second graders with a chance to practice their reading and public speaking skills while building relationships with younger students. 

Kennedy Baird and Porter Dungan were the first second graders to take up the challenge. Both students successfully read to the kindergarten class, demonstrating great enthusiasm. 

The program is set to continue, fostering growth for both the older and younger “Panthers.”
