Canton Career Center scholars participated in the recent National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) State Conference, which concluded following two days of impactful activities and workshops.
The conference, themed “Lighting the Way,” focuses on career and technical students’ leadership and future paths. The theme uses candle lighting ceremonies to symbolize guiding students toward success in CTE fields.
Scholars participated in various hands-on activities and workshops focused on real-world readiness. Key topics included:
● Building strong résumés, with a workshop titled “Turn Obstacles Into Opportunities with Your Resume” led by Justin Wilcher (ECCC).
● Sharpening job application skills in the workshop “Get Hired: Application Tips That Work”.
● Working through a life-beyond-high-school simulation booklet.
● A workshop titled “Real World Challenge” led by Kimberly Usry.
● A workshop titled “Survivor Island” led by a State Officer.
Students gained valuable knowledge, practical tools, and confidence to take their next steps. School officials called it a successful conference for the Tigers.
