The Canton Career Center recently recognized two students as Student of the Month for their achievements in work-based learning and career and technical education programs.

Senior Keiston Fleming was named Work-Based Learning Student of the Month and received a $100 gift card sponsored by Duane Matthews, a member of the Madison County Business League and Foundation and former AWS employee. Fleming plans to attend the University of Mississippi, major in business administration and enlist in the U.S. Air Force.

Junior Jeremiah McGee was recognized as Automotive Services Student of the Month and received a $100 gift card sponsored by Rochelle Thompson, a member of the Madison County Business League and Foundation and a representative of the American Lung Association. McGee is enrolled in the Automotive Services program and plans to pursue a career as an automotive mechanic.

The awards were presented by Canton Career Center Director Michael Ellis and Work-Based Learning instructor Trina Nichols, who praised both students for their dedication and commitment to their educational and career goals.

The Student of the Month program connects local businesses and organizations with students in career and technical education programs. School officials said the initiative helps develop essential workforce skills while supporting student success and strengthening the local workforce in Madison County.
