The Panthers of Canton Academy sit with a record of 3-3 to start off the season, with back to back victories against Winston Academy on February 24th, and March 3rd.
After a poor offensive start, where the team had combined for a total of 8 runs in four games, the Panthers put it together against Winston Academy scoring 9 runs total in game one, and won a 3-1 shootout in game 2. Winston Academy sits with a record of 5-3, making this a significant series win for the Panthers.
In game number one the Panthers used 7 hits to get 9 runs in the first 5 innings, against a Winston Academy team that struggled defensively. It was a four spot in the fifth inning that truly put the game away for the Panthers.
In game 2 a week later it was the defense that shined on both sides. The game was deadlocked at 1 a piece through 7 innings, leading to a two run output from the Panthers in the top of the eighth to get the job done.
Canton Academy will now run into Bogue Chito, on March 9th looking to make it 3 wins in a row.
