Canton teacher participates in state advisory council

Ms. Austin, an education teacher with the Canton Public School District, recently attended the Mississippi Teacher Advisory Council meeting.

She was inducted into the council during the 2024-25 school year and has attended each meeting held during the fall and spring semesters.

The council aims to empower educators across the state. Recent discussions have focused on accountability standards, strategic planning and teacher pay raises.

Austin said serving on the council is one of her proudest accomplishments during her time with the district, citing education and the sharing of knowledge as her top priorities.
