Special to The Canton News
The Men of Epsilon Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. partnered with the City of Canton to celebrate Juneteenth during a block party honoring the Historic Hickory Street District, a cornerstone of the city’s Black history and culture.

The celebration highlighted the district’s businesses, traditions and lasting impact on the community while commemorating Juneteenth, which marks the day the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom in 1865.
During the event, chapter members hosted a voter registration and education table to encourage civic engagement. Hundreds attended the celebration, including Canton Mayor Tim Taylor, as the community came together to honor the past, celebrate its heritage and strengthen connections for the future.
