German cookie and snack manufacturer Griesson - de Beukelaer will establish operations in Madison County, investing more than $70.37 million in a project expected to create 30 new jobs.
The investment marks the company's first operation in Mississippi and its first manufacturing presence in the United States. The project includes construction of a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Madison and the acquisition and renovation of an existing facility in Gluckstadt.
The new production plant will encompass between 130,000 and 150,000 square feet and will manufacture cookies and other snack products. The company also will renovate the Gluckstadt facility as part of its long-term expansion strategy, with investments focused on innovation and future product development.
Gov. Tate Reeves said the announcement reflects Mississippi's growing reputation as a destination for international manufacturers.
"Griesson - de Beukelaer's decision to invest in Mississippi is another tremendous vote of confidence in our people," Reeves said. "When an international manufacturer chooses Mississippi, it highlights the many benefits our state can offer companies looking for a competitive location in the U.S. to invest and grow. The historic momentum continues across our state, and manufacturers around the world are taking notice."
The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive (MFLEX) program. Madison County and the Madison County Economic Development Authority also are providing assistance.
Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork said the project demonstrates the state's continued success in attracting foreign investment.

Headquartered in Polch, Germany, Griesson - de Beukelaer is one of Germany's leading manufacturers of cookies and snack products. The family-owned company has operated for more than 100 years, employs more than 2,000 people worldwide and exports its products to more than 40 countries.
Company owner and board member Andreas Land said the Mississippi investment is an important milestone in the company's long-term U.S. growth strategy.

Construction and renovations are expected to position Griesson - de Beukelaer for continued expansion in the North American market while strengthening Madison County's growing manufacturing sector. The investment further adds to Mississippi's recent momentum in attracting international companies seeking strategic locations for U.S. operations.
