The Canton Public School District welcomed the 2026-2027 academic year with its annual Convocation, bringing together administrators, teachers, staff and community partners under the theme “Reconnect. Refocus. Rise Together.”

Following an inspiring Convocation, the CPSD family renewed its commitment to creating exceptional educational opportunities and enriching experiences for students throughout the upcoming school year.

The district expressed appreciation for Convocation speaker Dr. Candice Vance, consultant and author of Building an Inclusive Classroom Culture, as well as Dr. Darein Spann, president of the Mississippi Association of Educators. CPSD also recognized the support of Mayor Tim Taylor, members of the Board of Aldermen, retired teachers, members of the Madison County Ministerial Alliance and the 100 Black Men of Canton.

With a renewed sense of purpose and unity, Canton Public Schools looks forward to fostering a vibrant learning environment where every student can thrive and succeed.

“We are family,” the district shared, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting, refocusing and rising together with the support of the Canton community.
