Canton High School freshman Dominic Paschall, 15, won first place in the Canton-Madison County Historical Society’s Running Wild movie poster competition held this summer.
The competition was organized by the Historical Society’s Acknowledgment and Ordinance Committee and invited local students to create an original poster commemorating the 100th anniversary of Running Wild, a silent motion picture filmed in Canton during the summer of 1926 using local residents as cast members and extras.
Paschall, who is a wide receiver for the Canton High School Tigers football team, received a $100 first-place prize and a one-year honorary membership in the Canton-Madison County Historical Society for himself and his family.
Paschall said he plans to use his prize money toward obtaining his learner’s permit and taking driving lessons.
Historical Society officials praised Paschall for his artistic talent and character and welcomed him and his family as honorary members of the organization.
