Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney John K. “Bubba” Bramlett announced today that Jimmy Dale McKay was sentenced to serve forty-eight years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for the sale of cocaine as a subsequent drug offender.
Beginning in December of 2025, narcotics investigators with the Madison County Sheriff's Department conducted multiple controlled purchases of crack cocaine from McKay at his Canton, Mississippi residence. During all the undercover drug purchases, a confidential informant was fitted with a covert camera that recorded McKay selling the drugs. After further investigation into McKay’s drug distribution scheme, investigators executed a search warrant at his Canton home and discovered over 200 grams of crack cocaine.
McKay was charged with three counts of sale of cocaine as a subsequent drug offender. He pled guilty on August 25, 2026, and was sentenced to forty-eight years to serve. McKay had been previously convicted in the Circuit Court of Madison County for Possession of Cocaine in 2011.
District Attorney Bramlett stated, “Same song different verse. Selling to others can screw up their lives, as well as those around them. No more. Great job by law enforcement, investigators, and prosecutors. On behalf of the citizens of Madison and Rankin counties, thank you.”
