The Canton Academy Panthers picked up their second straight win Friday night, defeating Indianola Academy 22-20 at home.
After a difficult 42-0 loss against Tri-County Academy to begin the season, the Panthers have quickly turned things around. Canton Academy defeated East Rankin Academy 20-14 last week before coming away with another close victory Friday night.
The two-point win moves Canton Academy to 2-1 on the season and gives the Panthers some momentum after losing their season opener.
Canton Academy finished 4-7 last year but found success during the second half of the season and earned a spot in the MAIS Class 2A playoffs. With two straight wins to begin September, the Panthers will look to continue building on that success.
Canton Academy will now hit the road Friday night to face Manchester Academy. The Panthers defeated Manchester 47-0 late last season.
After winning back-to-back close games, Canton Academy will look to make it three straight and improve to 3-1 on the season.
