Drivers are reminded that passing a school bus with its stop sign extended is a serious violation of the law and puts students’ lives at risk.

Drivers traveling through school zones are encouraged to remain alert, follow posted speed limits and avoid distractions such as cellphones. Drivers should also watch carefully for students waiting at bus stops or walking to and from school, particularly during arrival and dismissal times.

The Canton Public School District encourages residents to share the safety reminder with family, friends and neighbors to help create safer school zones and protect students and staff.
