Canton High School suffered its first loss of the season Friday night, falling 26-18 on the road against Neshoba Central in a competitive Region 2-6A matchup.
The Tigers entered the contest unbeaten but struggled to keep pace with the Rockets in the second half. Canton remained within striking distance throughout the first two quarters, trailing just 13-12 at halftime.
Neshoba Central extended its advantage in the third quarter, holding Canton scoreless during the period while adding another touchdown. The Tigers responded with six points in the fourth quarter, but the Rockets matched that effort to secure the eight-point victory.
Despite the loss, Canton has put together an impressive season, opening the year with six consecutive victories. The Tigers will look to get back on track Friday when they face Ridgeland in another important region contest.
