Canton Academy saw its recent momentum come to an end Friday night, falling 46-22 against Greenville St. Joseph in a matchup between two competitive MAIS programs.
The Panthers entered the game coming off a 27-20 victory over North Delta Academy but were unable to carry that success into Friday's contest.
St. Joseph controlled much of the evening, building a 30-8 advantage through three quarters. Canton Academy managed to find more offensive success in the final period, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
The loss dropped Canton Academy to 6-3 on the season, while St. Joseph improved to 7-2.
Despite the setback, the Panthers remain in position to finish the regular season with a winning record. Canton Academy will return to its home field Friday to face Centreville Academy as the postseason approaches.
