Angels Amongst Us

Angels Amongst Us

The Good Book says "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

But what it does not mention is that some may give 42 years of their active life to selling peanut brittle for their church school, needy families and the missionaries.

Say hello to Dale Brady, an 84 year old member of Dexter Pentecostal Church.

On Dec. 04 she was honored in the Sunday morning service by the congregation for her longtime services to the Kingdom of God helping in this most unique way.

Two sisters, Miriam Massengale and Lisa Reid, who grew up around Dale in the Jayess area where they all attended church together headed up the award ceremony.

Always referred to as the 'peanut brittle lady' because she devoted her life and traveled many miles over a three state area of MS, LA and ALA peddling the sweet stuff for a sweet cause.

I remember back in the 90's driving to a hospital call down on the MS coastal town of Pascagoula and there was Dale with her basket of peanut brittle going from store to store.

Some time back while visiting Dale, a current resident of the Billdora Nursing Home in Tylertown MS, Miriam was told by Dale she hoped in her obituary it would include her long time efforts as the 'peanut brittle lady'.

And she went on to say if she could wish for anything it would be some kind of award or plaque declaring the same while still living.

Thus Miriam is shown here with Dale with her trophy and plaque declaring her lengthy dedication in this unusual way.

Many of the fellow residents of the Billdora home testify that Dale comes by to pray with them on a regular basis, always in an upbeat mood giving morale boost to them all.

Rev. Gordon Alexander, a minister near her age, spent the better part of a year at the home trying to recover from a massive stroke.

He said it was not unusual when crying in severe pain from the ravages of the stroke to look up late at night and see her standing in his doorway with hands outstretched praying for him.

She is thought of as the angel of prayer by the infirm and afflicted in that facility.

Hebrews 12:28 says this:

"And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

The little known or the not upfront people like Dale Brady may go unnoticed by many.

No, she is not an apostle, or prophet, teacher or a miracle worker.

She falls over into the unseen 'helps' category.

But heaven has a special place and a sweet reward for the peanut brittle lady, one of these angels unaware who work among us.

God bless you and God bless America.
